How To Crochet a Beach Hut

You can't beat that Summer feeling even if it does feel like non stop rain in the UK at the moment, but what better than crocheting up some adorable Beach Huts to adorn your house with some Summer fun with my latest pattern.

You will need;

  • HappyBerry Baby Snuggles DK yarn (available to purcahse here) or any DK / Light worsted weight yan in two colours
  • E/4 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle and scissors
  • Toy stuffing or yarn scraps for stuffing

W= white
AC = alternate colour

This pattern is in US terminology and is crocheted flat, in three parts, and then crocheted together.

Row 1 (main hut)
Using W and a 3.5mm crochet hook ch11, 1sc in 2nd st from hook and in ea st along - (10)

Row 2
Ch1 (don't count as st here or on-wards), turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 3
Join AC in ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 4
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 5
Join W in ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 6
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 7
Join AC in ch1 and in front loops only for this row, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Row 8
Ch1, turn, 1sc in first 9 sts, 2sc in last st - (11)

Row 9
Join W in ch1, turn, 2sc in 1st st, 1sc in remaining 10 sts - (12)

Row 10
Ch1, turn, 1sc in first 11 sts, 2sc in last st - (13)

Row 11
Join AC in ch1, turn, 2sc in 1st st, 1sc in remaining 12 sts - (14)

Row 12
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (14)

Row 13
Join W in ch1, turn, sc2tog, 1sc in remaining 12 sts - (13)

Row 14
Ch1, turn, 1sc in first 11 sts, sc2tog - (12)

Row 15
Join AC in ch1, turn, sc2tog, 1sc in remaining 10 sts - (11)

Row 16
Ch1, turn, 1sc in first 9 sts, sc2tog - (10)

Row 17
Join W in ch1 and in front loops only for this row, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (10)

Rows 18 - 32
Repeat rows 2 - 16

Row 33
Ch1, turn, join row 32 with row 1 by crocheting 1 sl st in ea st along joining each side as you go.

Door

Row 1
Using W ch5, 1sc in 2nd st from hook and in ea st along - (4)

Rows 2 - 7
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (4)

Finishing
Knot 3 knots into centre of a short length of AC and sew each end onto door, tie on the back to create a door knob. Sew door to front of house.

Roof

Row 1
Using W, ch7, 1sc in 2nd st from hook and in ea st along - (6)

Rows 2 - 7
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (6)

Row 8
Ch1 and in front loops only for this row, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (6)

Rows 9 - 14
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (6)

Finishing
Sew roof to main hut, but make sure to leave 2 rows hanging over each end and stuff your beach hut at this point.

Base

Row 1
Using W ch7, 1sc in 2nd st from hook and in ea st along - (6)

Rows 2 - 10
Ch1, turn, 1sc in ea st along - (6)

Finishing
Sew base to main hut.

And now you're done!

Why not use the same pattern but add 4 extra rows to the front and back, bottom and roof, make two doors instead of one and sew on some white borders and you have a little barn!
