How To Crochet a Maple Leaf

Back in July I did a special crochet video tutorial for Canada Day with these cute little Maple Leaf designs but these leaves are also perfect for the forthcoming Autumn season so I thought I would finally write up the written pattern for you guys. Very simple to make and a great way to use up those scraps!

All you need is;

- Dk/Light worsted weight yarn in red or any yarn you like
- 3.0mm crochet hook or any hook suitable for your yarn
- Yarn needle and scissors

Round 1
Crochet 10dc into a magic circle, pull to tighten, sl st in 1st dc to join - (10)

Alternatively you can ch4, sl st in 1st ch to form a loop, crochet 10dc into loop, sl st in 1st dc to join.

Round 2
Ch1 (count as st), 1sc in same st as previous sl st, [1sc, 1hdc] in next st, [1hdc, 1dc] in next st, 2dc in next st, [1dc, 1tr] in next st, 2tr in next st, [1tr, 1dc] in next st, 2dc in next st, [1dc, 1hdc] in next st, [1hdc, 1sc] in next st, sl st in ch1 to join

Round 3
Ch8, sl st in 2nd st from hook and in ea ch back to main leaf, sl st in next st, [1sc, 1hdc] in next st, [1dc, ch3, sl st in 1st ch, 1dc] in next st, [1hdc, 1sc] in next st, [1sc, 1hdc] in next st, [1dc, 2tr, ch3, sl st in 1st ch] in next st, [2tr, 1dc] in next st, [1hdc, 1sc] in next st, [1sc, 1dc] in next st, [1tr, 2dtr, ch3, sl st in 1st ch] in next st, [2dtr, 1tr] in next st, [1dc, 1sc] in next st, [1sc, 1hdc] in next st, [1dc, 2tr, ch3, sl st in 1st ch] in next st, [2tr, 1dc] in next st, [1hdc, 1sc] in next st, [1sc, 1hdc] in next st, [1dc, ch3, sl st in 1st ch, 1dc] in next st, [1hdc, 1sc] in last st, sl st in beginning st to finish

Fasten off and tie in all tails and now you're done!
